چکیده

Sodium borate glasses with two different composit ions have been prepared using cooling rates in the range 7 • 10" C / s 2 • 10 °C/s. Structural characterization has been carried out by X-ray diffraction, and glass transition temperatures have been measured by Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The samples exhibit slightly different density values and glass transition temperatures. However, radial distribution functions appear extremely similar and the sodium coordination shell does not change in going from fast to slowly quenched glasses, showing that the short and medium range order is not affected by thermal treatment.

Structural Investigation, Physical and Optical Properties of Mixed Alkali Bismuth Borate Glasses

Lead free, eco-friendly bismuth borate glasses doped with alkali oxides of composition xLi2O+(30-x)Na2O+55B2O3+15Bi2O3 (x = 5,10,15,20,25) were prepared by melt quenching technique. Amorphous nature of glasses was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Density measurements were carried out at room temperature by standard principle of Archimedes with Xylene as an immersion liquid. The non-linear ...

Influence of Cooling Rate on Cracking and Plastic Deformation during Impact and Indentation of Borosilicate Glasses

The influence of a changing glass topology on local mechanical properties was studied in a multitechnique nanomechanical approach. The glass response against sharp contacts can result in structural densification, plastic flow, or crack initiation. By using instrumented indentation testing, the mechanical response was studied in different strain rate regimes for a sodium borosilicate glass (NBS)...

Structure-composition trends in multicomponent borosilicate-based glasses deduced from molecular dynamics simulations with improved B-O and P-O force fields.

We present a comprehensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulation study of composition-structure trends in a set of 25 glasses of widely spanning compositions from the following four systems of increasing complexity: Na2O-B2O3, Na2O-B2O3-SiO2, Na2O-CaO-SiO2-P2O5, and Na2O-CaO-B2O3-SiO2-P2O5. The simulations involved new B-O and P-O potential parameters developed within the polarizable shell-model f...

Infrared and Raman Spectroscopic Studies on mixed alkali tungsten based glasses

Quaternary tungstate glasses containing K2O, Na2O and B2O3 have been prepared by melt quench technique and studied by IR and Raman spectroscopy. Raman and infrared spectroscopy have been employed to investigate the (30−x)Na2O–xK2O–10WO3–60B2O 3 glasses in order to obtain information about the competitive role of WO3 and B2O3 in the formation of glass network. IR spectral study reveals the exist...

Femtosecond laser-induced reduction in Eu-doped sodium borate glasses

In this work, we report permanent reduction of Eu to Eu in sodium borate glasses by irradiation of near-infrared femtosecond laser. Glass composition of sodium borate was 85B2O3–15Na2O. The glasses were doped with 0.05, 0.1, and 0.5mol% Eu2O3. Absorption and fluorescence dynamics were studied to investigate valence state change of europium ions and the energy transfer between Eu and Eu ions. As...
